Another Successful Working B in Ormeau

One of the ways that ASK HOMES supports its OWNER BUILDER clients is with what is known as WORKING B's.

The WORKING B is very simple; it's a bunch of labourers that each come out on a Saturday and take your house from SLAB to ROOF TRUSSES in one day (Depending on the size and difficulty of your home obviously).

This will save the OWNER BUILDER a huge amount of time and money in this stage of putting up frames and getting the roof ready for sheeting. It also works out to be considerably cheaper than having a professional subcontractor do this part of the build for you. Not to mention you'll also have our ASK HOMES team leaders there to make sure everything is done properly.

Matt Thorp experienced a working B first hand over the weekend on his house which is located at number 10 Limewood Court Ormeau. It was a split level 3 module home following the contours of his relatively angled block. The house is 307sqm in size and used a steel florring system rather than a slab.

Matt said "ASK HOMES was the obvious choice when it came to finding a company that specialised in sloping building sites. I originally started designs with a boutique builder but decided that the contingency most builders work into their costs was too large. I switched to ASK HOMES because I liked the idea of being the little bit more in control."

When we asked Matt what was the best part about dealing with ASK HOMES he commented that "the staff were friendly and helpful in particular Natalie who looked after council approvals and made sure everything went smoothly."

Matt has embarked on this journey with his wife, two kids and dog supporting him all the way! He's made the decision to build the family home and he says he'll never look back!

Matt did his owner builder course by correspondence and said that if he had sat down in one session it would have taken him only 1 day to complete it. He reckons for the flexibility it gives you to make sure you get exactly what you want, in addition to the cost savings from building on a unique site with a system like ASK HOMES there's no better option! "It's like being a kid again... I was that little boy with Lego; I could walk you through the whole home in my imagination exactly as it will end up being - it's a great challenge for a bloke!"

The working B went really well, didn't get as much done as we would have liked because most of the day was spent finishing the flooring system, but overall everyone worked really hard to get a great end result! The rain didn't help, but as usual the positive, fun team at ASK HOMES made it a great experience to remember.
